In between, during and next to all the dust, rubble, noise and demolishing of our entire ground floor someone managed to study for his final exams and passed with flying colors! (Grade average: 8!)
When you pass your final exams in Holland you are supposed to fly our tricolor and attach your schoolbag to it to show the world….. So, this students Mom knew our flag pole wasn’t mounted yet and went looking for a big enough flag to hang out of our windows…… Yeah well, I thought I rummaged through the pile of flags in the store and found the right one. When I unpacked it yesterday it turned out I got hold of one of the stupid soccer ones, including orange and a lion. Aaargh!
As of the first of September there will be a real student in the family, this boy is heading to University to study Chemical Engineering/Chemical Technology…..
Wow.
And I think the mom-thing… he will only be 16 (only for a few days, having his birthday in September but still) when he will start University… and engage in all this introduction week party things they throw to initiate the new students.
I still get to do his laundry, make him meals, chastise him for leaving a trail of stuff around the house because he will stay home and commute. That’s a good thing. Another good thing? I think he is going to do fine! He can do this!
